ABOUT ME

For me, communication goes beyond simply informing an audience; it’s about creating a chord of empathy that connects the message with its readers. With social media reshaping how we reach audiences, journalists today must be more flexible and responsive than ever. Social platforms often drive the news, determining what’s “trending” and what matters to the public. My experience in indirect marketing has been invaluable here, teaching me to think from the reader's perspective and understand how language can inspire action.

At New West Communications, The Texas Tribune, and McCombs Magazine, I honed skills like social listening, media tracking, editorial analysis, and building targeted media lists. I’ve also written press releases, pitch letters, biographies, op-eds, and social media content for diverse industries, including law, insurance, and higher education—always focusing on bridging the gap between media and audience. My education at UT Austin gave me a solid foundation in AP Style, reporting, and research. At the same time, my internships taught me about people—their connections, emotions, and the stories they care about.

Now, I’m thrilled to combine these skills to pursue what I love most: writing. I’m a passionate, driven, and often chatty storyteller, eager to cover the human story, whether at the U.S.-Mexico border or in an emerging newsroom. People are always at the heart of my work.
