there's no escaping communications...

Communication touches every aspect of our lives, from quick conversations & Slack messages to important meetings & presentations. It’s how we get sh*t done.

Here’s the catch: not everyone knows how to effectively communicate. Many of us know what we want to say but do not always know how to say it.

What’s the message you want to share? How should you deliver it? Where will it have the greatest impact?

That’s when I step in.

SLOAN WYATT

Digital Communications Strategist and Writer Based in Brooklyn, New York

I grew up watching Y2K rom-coms with female leads who lived in New York City, working in journalism and public relations. Those films were formative to my early adolescence. They helped me dream. They inspired me to chase success and lean into my ambition. And they taught me that my love of writing wasn't just normal. It was profound.

Writing was my first love, before any boyfriends or best friends, I had my words and my journals. I went to journalism school intending to become a full-time writer, but I kept winding up in internships focused on social media + public relations at The Zebra, Texas Tribune, and McCombs Magazine. Honestly, that pivot wasn't surprising. I'd started an anonymous fan account for my sleepaway camp as a kid and maintained it religiously. I spent too many hours in middle school glued to my family's computer on Ask.fm. Maybe the heroines of The Devil Wears Prada and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days weren't working in socials, but I'd like to think that's only because they didn't have access to them.

After graduation, I took my journalism degree straight to a public relations agency in Washington, DC. I managed accounts, pitched social campaigns, and made graphics for clients like Better Medicare Alliance. Then I moved BACK to Austin, Texas (you can never keep me away from Texas for long) to become the first, and only,  employee at New West Communications, working with clients in renewable energy, workforce development, and higher education on press releases, blog posts, and social content. Needless to say, you wear a lot of hats when you're the only employee (and the only woman in a room of three older men).

Those two experiences empowered me to go off on my own in November 2024, which brings us to Sabra Strategies. My baby. In many ways, we are one: I am Sabra, and Sabra is me. But Sabra is also so much bigger than me. Through it, I get to work with agencies like BandOne, HL Strategy, and Emet Strategies (yes, I'm still getting agency experience) and small businesses like JewBoy Burgers (I love you, Mo) and GroupTogether. In my free time, I've worked with community initiatives, such as ATX Supper Club and PR Habitat, to help young people connect, learn, and grow (the loneliness epidemic is alive + well).

I still think about journalism. I still love to write. And I love to travel — for work (I just attended Cannes Lions as a member of the 2026 Creative Academy cohort) or for fun (visiting my college roommate in Croatia). More than anything, I love my work. It's always moving and evolving, taking me places and introducing me to people I never thought possible. It's not a 9-to-5 — I'm still working on boundaries — and that's okay. Actually, that's perfect.
